Taro Sakamoto vs Yoichi Nagumo vs Rion Akao is a battle fought among the JCC students Taro Sakamoto, Yoichi Nagumo and Rion Akao.
Prologue[]
During their times at the JCC as trainees, the Sakamoto-Nagumo-Rion trio had a reputation as excellent students and troublemakers. This battle would take place when Satoda Etsuko brings a class of JCC students (including the trio) for outdoors training.
The outdoors training involves students shooting each other with paintballs. At some point, the other students would all be shot with paintballs and the three students would be the only ones remaining, having battled for a total of nine hours.[1]
Battle[]
The chapter starts mid-battle. Rion is seated on the roof of a moving civilian train, trying to light a cigarette. The train passes below a bridge, and Nagumo jumps off the bridge, attempting to catch Rion from behind with a downward knife strike. Rion blocks the attack while remaining seated, and asks Nagumo if he has a lighter. Nagumo smiles, and cocks a gun in response. Rion disassembles the gun while Nagumo holds it, and Rion throws a punch at him. Nagumo blocks her punch, and the two pause to dodge a quickly approaching bridge, kicking through windows on opposite sides of the train car. [1]
At a station platform, Sakamoto jumps down onto the train tracks, and hops onto the train. Sakamoto tears off a straphanger handrail to use as a weapon, and approaches Rion and Nagumo as they crash through the windows of the train car. Sakamoto swings at them using the handrail , tearing through the frame of the train car, managing to lightly injure Rion. Rion gets annoyed by this, and Nagumo is amused by how into the exercise Sakamoto is, before pulling out two blades from the assortment stored in his jacket and suggesting the loser of the fight buy lunch. Rion uses her ability to see paths to land a kick on Sakamoto's head. Sakamoto manages to catch Rion and Nagumo's right hands in the straphangers of the handrail and throw them to the ground, causing them to come crashing out of the train window. [1]
As they fall midair, Rion pulls out one gun in each hand, and points one each at Sakamoto and Nagumo. They come crashing above Satoda-sensei, who stops the fight and tells them to rejoin her. [1]
Aftermath[]
The trio are brought to Yamada-sensei, the then JCC vice-principal, who expels all of them. He cites civilians seeing them fight as the reason, in addition to their history of breaking rules by doing things like damaging facilities, ignoring class rules, and using weapons without permission. Rion disregards Yamada-sensei's words and tries to light a cigarette as she tries to appeal to him by saying her niece would stop talking to her if she got expelled. Nagumo blames Sakamoto for breaking the handrail, and Sakamoto tries to excuse himself by saying he thought the handrail was a weapon since it was removable. [1]
Yamada-sensei tells the three that they have insufficient credits to pass, and gives them an extra assignment to determine whether they would pass the year or not. He also tells them that a lot of teachers think they should be expelled, but Satoda-sensei had advocated for making a special exception. [1]
Their mission is later revealed to be to locate and kill the Silver Dragon, secretly Order founder Kindaka in disguise.[2]
