Obiguro (
Appearance[]
Obiguro is a woman with short dark purple (brown with navy blue and red streaks in the manga and black in the digital colored manga) hair styled in a bowl and large black eyes.
She wears sunglasses with orange lenses and a lime green frame, a choker, a red strapless crop top paired with a pinstripe dark grey blazer, black shorts with a zipper, and red high heels (black in the digital colored manga). A crescent moon is inked below her right collarbone.
Personality[]
Obiguro is a thrill seeker who appreciates seeing others use their full potential in combat. This is evident during her fight with Lu Shaotang, where, despite saying she could, she refrained from killing Lu and Shin instantly because it wasn't a thrill to her.[2] Instead, she set up rules requiring Lu to attack and make contact with her every ten seconds; otherwise, Shin would be killed.[3] After the fight, Obiguro excitably praised Lu for the strength she showed and hoped they could fight again sometime in the future.[4]
Obiguro often banters with and teases those around her. Playfulness shows in her actions as well; when she found Tatsu, she pushed him to the ground and sat on his back.[5]
Being Boiled's partner, Obiguro shows familiarity and comfort in her interactions with him, such as addressing Boiled about his habit of working out when he's stressed.[6] While Obiguro can easily be startled and jolt whenever Boiled raises his voice, she is drawn to Boiled's assertiveness, finding it an attractive trait alongside his refusal to hurt any other life aside from their target's.[7] Obiguro's playful behavior can cease when she's concerned for Boiled, exemplified by when she was quick to question if Boiled's scar was connected to Taro Sakamoto.[8]
History[]
When Obiguro was 13, she enrolled in JCC along with Sakamoto, Yoichi Nagumo, and her future partner, Boiled. She already harbored a crush on the latter but was too afraid to act on her feelings.[9]
At some point years later, Obiguro and Boiled joined the Dondenkai agency. They quickly rose up the ranks, cementing their status as "the powerhouse duo of the Dondenkai" two years before the start of the series after killing more than 200 people, a feat immortalized as the "Ronriko Incident".[8]
Skills & Abilities[]
Overall Skill Level: Paired with Boiled, the two are considered "the powerhouse duo of the Dondenkai," known for slaughtering over 200 people during the Ronriko Incident.[8]
Enhanced Strength: Obiguro performed an "emperor-killing style karate secret technique heel drop" on Lu powerful enough to shatter the floor.[10]
Battles & Events[]
Trivia[]
She has a navel piercing in the manga but in the anime, it’s been removed.
- 尾 (O/Obi) → means “tail” or “end,” but it can also be used in names.
- 比呂 (Hiro/Guro) → “Hiro” is a common reading in Japanese names, though Suzuki stylized it as guro. “Guro” could be a pun, since guro (グロ) in Japanese slang can mean “grotesque” or “gruesome,” which fits the hitman/assassin tone of the manga.
