Sakamoto Days Wiki

The JCC Infiltration Arc (JCCせんにゅうへん JCC Sen'nyū-hen?)[1] is the fifth story arc in the Sakamoto Days series.

Being accepted into the JCC, Sakamoto and Shin go undercover to search the JCC's database, unaware that Slur is looking for it as well.

Summary[]

After the test[]

Mafuyu and Toramaru, having recently been captured by X's organization and brought back to an abandoned factory acting as their base, are brought in front of X, where he formally recruits them. Kashima gives them a pamphlet to explain their job responsibilities and threatens them with an unspecified threat if they refuse. Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi are collecting information at a lotto store in the form of killer lotto scratch cards. The cards reveal a series of assassin killings breaking out in Kyoto, where an 'X' symbol is found at crime sites, possibly implying the involvement of X's organization. Back at Sakamoto's, Shin and Sakamoto fill in Heisuke and Lu on the happenings of the admissions test, including X's involvement. Hana walks in with mail from the JCC, containing the results of the test scores. Shin comes in first place and is admitted, but Sakamoto fails despite his excellent performance and verbal confirmation of passing during the test, due to the active bounty on Sakamoto's head being against JCC admissions rules. Nagumo appears, having listened in, and suggests to the group that Sakamoto infiltrates the JCC as a teacher instead of a student.

School begins[]

Akira is overwhelmed at her first day at the JCC but is reassured by memories of Rion. Akira sneaks into her Close Quarters Combat class, getting lost along the way and being late. She is seen by the lecturer Inoue and chosen to demonstrate the art of close quarters combat with another first-year JCC assassination major student, Jumbo Tanishi. Jumbo Tanishi is to strike her with slowly with a real knife, and Akira to avoid the attack by redirecting the focus of the strike, but Jumbo Tanishi decides to strike her quickly to catch her off guard and injure her. Akira reflexively knocks the knife out of his hand, catching him off guard, and Sakamoto makes his appearance disguised as Aoi and knocks Jumbo Tanishi out. Akira recognises Sakamoto's movement style, but does not see through the disguise. Sakamoto leers at the students staring at his Aoi disguise, and the lecturer sends Akira back to her seat and cowers after seeing the "Akao" last name and having memories of Rion beating him up resurface.

In fourth period shooting practice, Akira and other students are fumbling at the task of assembling a gun and shooting within a minute. The lecturer asks Sakamoto to demonstrate the task to the students, in order to embarrass Sakamoto and show that the assassin field is no workplace for women. Instead, Sakamoto assembles the gun and gets sixty-seven bullseye shots, having slipped compared to his record of eighty-nine. Sakamoto looks at the all-time scoreboard and learns that Heisuke has scored ninety-six and beaten his score.

In the research laboratory in the weapons production department of the JCC, a student mob discovers Natsuki Seba has melted their weapons and search for him. One of the students searches the toilet for Natsuki, but discovers Shin instead, doing the "skipping class to smoke in the bathroom" trope on his list of school tropes to do. The student threatens Shin but gets beat up by him, and Shin discovers Natsuki in an adjacent stall. Shin interrogates Natsuki for information on X's group, but learns that Natsuki only took the lab job as a freelance job and knows nothing, before Natsuki remembers and reveals his electromagnetic wave-blocking hood, which blocks Shin's ability to read the wearer's thoughts. At the cafeteria, Shin learns that Natsuki and Mafuyu, Shin's admissions test companion and a first-year in the assassination department, are siblings.

Sakamoto escapes desk work by following up with truant students in their dormitories. Sakamoto discovers X's insignia plastered all over the walls and floors of the student dormitories. Students ambush Sakamoto but he defeats them and earns their respect. As Sakamoto learns about the students' idolising of X, Amane appears, having left a meeting with Kashima midway due to the commotion.

Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi's Assignment[]

Nagumo and Shishiba talk about their schools while driving on the highway to their assignment when they discover they left Osaragi at a rest stop. A group of assassins ambush their vehicle under orders from Yotsumura. Nagumo and Shishiba easily defeat them, and fight Yotsumura, who retreats after Osaragi joins the fight. Shishiba tells Osaragi about their senpai and a former member of the order who was banished from the JAA, Yotsumura.

In Kyoto, Shishiba reveals his history with Yotsumura, and Yotsumura had failed to complete a big assignment. Because of that, the JAA ordered him killed, but says the assassin sent to kill him failed to do so, and Yotsumura managed to escape. The surviving assassins from the ambush confront Yotsumura, revealing their grudge against the JAA and resonation with X's doctrine. Yotsumura cuts the three confronting him before they could react, cutting them in half with his three-sectioned-naganata, along with the wall behind him and two assassins hiding behind the wall.

The search for the database[]

Back in the student dormitories, Amane reveals a sincere side when he apologises for unthoughtful comments. Sakamoto convinces the students to go back to class, but Amane refuses, and continues his meeting with Kashima. Kashima offers to officially recruit Amane if he destroys the database as an initiation test.

Back in the weapons department's research laboratory, Shin fiddles with Natsuki's weapons as Natsuki works on a project. The other weapons department students angry at Natsuki find him and confront him, and Shin learns about how hardworking and accomplished Natsuki is as a student and a weapons designer. While taking out trash, Natsuki gives Shin the idea to search for people who know about the database, rather than the database itself, and Shin rushes off to pursue this lead. Natsuki asks a nearby janitor if he knows anything about it, and the janitor gives indication he has heard of its existence. Before Natsuki can question him more, he gets a call from Mafuyu.

Akira attends an assassination practicum to learn how to hide her aggression amongst other practical skills. To demonstrate, the instructor wears a blindfold, and proceeds to defeat all the students who come to attack, with a second teacher recording the training down on a clipboard. Shin turns up, in search for Satoda, the longest-serving teacher at the school, to ask about the database. Shin provokes the instructor into accepting an agreement to give information on the database if Shin can dodge all attacks while blindfolded. The instructor begins by shooting Shin, but he dodges and counterattacks while the instructor is surprised from his dodging. Shin gets flipped over by the other teacher, who reveals herself to be Satoda. Shin explains his search on X, but Satoda refuses, provoking Shin into attacking Satoda. Satoda, moved by his determinism, gives Shin an assassin permission slip with her name on it, allowing him to target her for 24 hours. Akira joins Shin, realising that the database might help her locate Rion.

Akira accompanies Shin to the infirmary to get treatment for his battle with Satoda. Shin updates Sakamoto, who grimaces at memories of Satoda, about his findings, but unbeknownst to him was eavesdropped on by Natsuki, hiding behind a privacy curtain next to him. On their way out of the infirmary, Akira explains pathways, a light trail showing the best way to attack a target, and her ability to see them, but remarks that she could not see any towards Satoda. Shin and Akira try to attack Satoda while she's eating, but are easily defeated. Natsuki, observing them while invisible, makes his presence known and expresses his intent to help with the search for the database.

Back in the factory, Mafuyu wakes up distraught, having fallen asleep without taking a shower. Toramaru, having waited for him to wake up, asks him to escape with her. Toramaru trips over Gaku napping on the floor, who does not react despite her falling on him. Mafuyu and Toramaru come across a room and see X muttering unintelligibly to himself. Kashima catches the two spying on X, and attacks as they begin to run. Kashima detonates a bomb behind them (which also fails to wake Gaku up), revealing that he embedded a bomb like that inside both of them. X comes out and speaks coherently, shifting Toramaru's fan-like idolisation of Sakamoto to himself. Mafuyu reaches in his pocket, and calls Natsuki, as Kashima apologises for the loudness of the bomb.

At the school, Natsuki explains that Mafuyu had called him without speaking, an indicator that Mafuyu wants help, and heard X's henchmen in the background. Knowing the database contains information about X, he decides to help Shin and Akira. Natsuki and Shin search for a weapon for Shin, and Shin learns that Natsuki's accomplishments, despite his aloof and lazy personality at times, are the fruit of an incredible amount of work. Shin decides on a glove which turns off the limiter in the brain to give the wearer excess strength, in exchange for a startup delay, a flaw which makes the glove useless to those without future sight.

At the factory, Gaku offers to smash up the JCC for Kashima, but Kashima explains the difficulty in doing so due to the hostile surrounding environment, and X reminds the group of Amane's role.

At the school, Sakamoto gets a set of master keys from a teacher, but is ambushed by Amane on his way out, who manages to steal the keys from Sakamoto using a four-sectioned naganata. Sakamoto recognises Yotsumura's technique and learns of Amane's resentment towards his father for destroying his family. Sakamoto chases Amane through the school, corners Amane in a stairwell, gets the keys back from him, learning that Amane's desire to destroy the JAA stems from Yotsumura's association with it, and that his anger towards Yotsumura comes from killing Amane's mother. Amane to refuses elaborate further, citing a distrust due to observing Nagumo's disguise fading and Sakamoto's body expanding faster than the human body changes. Nagumo's disguise partially undoes itself, revealing a lot of Sakamoto's size and caching him off guard. Amane takes this opportunity to steal the keys once again from Sakamoto, jumping down the stairwell and destroying the stair railings, using them to obstruct Sakamoto, who had jumped down to follow him. Sakamoto lands on the obstruction, landing in front of the janitor earlier seen talking to Natsuki, recognising him from his student days. The janitor recognises Sakamoto, surprising him, and explains that Amane is his grandson as the two repair the stairwell.

Amane, exhausted from a fruitless search throughout the JCC for the database, gets flashbacks of his father standing over his mother's body. He gets a call from Kashima, reporting that he has not located the database. Kashima asks him to shut down the JCC's missile defense system as an alternate way to join X's organization, explaining their desire to recreate the massacre at the JAA. Offshore, Kanaguri and Club Jam get ready to attack the JCC.

Natsuki adjusts the delay in Shin's glove to match how far in advance he can see the future, and formulates a plan for him and Akira to distract Satoda while Shin uses an opening to hit her. Satoda heads to the gym, having forgotten something there, and the three ambush her. Shin lands a punch on Satoda's arm, which hurts her but not enough for the three to recognise it. Moved by their efforts in coordination, Satoda explains that "Database" is a nickname for a person with preternatural memory working at the school, the janitor.

X's organization invades the JCC[]

The database finds Amane, and talks to him about his support for X's organization and his hatred for his father. The database explains that Amane stood no chance in combat against Sakamoto, since Sakamoto as a student was the best fighter he'd seen by far. After the talk with his grandfather, Amane accepts Kashima's deal, on the condition that Kashima does not hurt the students and teachers, which Kashima accepts. Kashima accepts Amane into X's organization, and Amane begins his attack on the computers controlling the security system, but Sakamoto stops his weapon, having listened into the conversation with Kashima. Kashima recognises Aoi as Sakamoto's wife, and tells Amane not to trust Sakamoto, but accidentally lets slip that the JCC was planned to be a sacrifice for revolution, revealing his intent and his promise to not hurt the students or teachers to be a lie. Having exposed himself, Club Jam takes over and retriggers Amane's hypnosis, who destroys the security system.

In a classroom, students get worked up over the alarm, but their teacher reassures them that no one could have invaded in the ten seconds the system was down. Kanaguri seats himself amongst the students without them noticing, and begins to argue with them. The teacher walks over to get Kanaguri to put his camera away, but is beheaded by Kanaguri. The students work themselves up and Kanaguri takes over the classroom, assuming the role of their teacher. Inoue and the shooting class teacher appear and confront Kanaguri.

Shin, Akira, and Natsuki find Sakamoto with Amane, now free from hypnotism, and Shin tells Sakamoto who the database is. Akira learns the identity of Sakamoto. Amane learns that he's exposed his grandfather to X's organization.

Kanaguri leaves the classroom, having defeated the pair of teachers, and encounters Satoda. Satoda, masking her aggression, manages to cut Kanaguri before he jumps away, then closes the distance and throws him out of a window. She jumps on him and stomps him through the roof of the poison department's greenhouse. Sakamoto's group split up, and Sakamoto and Akira head for the janitor's room to search for the database and secure him, as the group hear Club Jam's voice over the intercom, triggering mass hypnotism. Sakamoto frees Akira from the hypnotism, and decide to speed up because of the new enemy. They use a shortcut and head to the janitor's room through the greenhouse. Hypnotised students crash through the greenhouse behind Satoda, catching her off guard, and Kanaguri uses this moment to cut her down, right as Sakamoto and Akira run past. In a flashback, Satoda thinks of her conversation with Byodo, who subsequently became the database, where she explains that she turned down the Order to change the education. Sakamoto, disguise now faded, knocks Kanaguri away, for long enough for him to have a short reunion with Satoda before she dies. Kanaguri reveals to Sakamoto his intent to film the conflict between X and the JAA from both sides, and tells Akira that Rion was eliminated by X. Satoda momentarily rises from the dead, and throws a dagger through Kanaguri's camera, blinding his right eye. Sakamoto explains his promise to Rion to not to tell Akira about her. An enraged Akira blindly charges at Kanaguri, but is saved by Sakamoto, who uses Kanaguri's camera to block Kanaguri's attack, destroying the camera and its footage in the process. Sakamoto knocks Kanaguri through the greenhouse, into a library, where Kanaguri gets motivated again, by stealing some phones and using their cameras as a replacement.

Shin, Natsuki, and Amane are chased by a mob of hypnotised students, having been chased by the students who heard him mention the Database. Shin and Amane are pushed off the railings by the mob, but rescued by the Database. Shin takes this opportunity to ask for information about X, but the Database asks for their help in driving the enemies out of the JCC before sharing the information. Shin agrees, but realises that Natsuki has disappeared. The three run away from the mob.

Near the broadcasting room, Natsuki undoes his invisibility, and confronts Club Jam for information about Mafuyu's location, offering the location of the Database in exchange. Natsuki brings Club Jam to a data storage facility, wanting to defeat him, but Club Jam hypnotises Natsuki and directs him to bring him to the Database. Natsuki pretends to be hypnotised and gives Shin the chance to learn Mafuyu's location through telepathy. Shin and Natsuki learn from the Databse about Amane's past with Yotsumura and his subsequent anger with the JAA during their fight with Club Jam. Amane asks the Database about the truth behind Yotsumura's actions that night, and the Database tells him he has to learn it himself.

At the JAA western Japan headquarters, Nagumo gives a report to Fukumitsu, the director at the JAA western Japan headquarters, and an unnamed JAA member, about Yotsumura's actions and background. The unnamed JAA member questions the level of response towards Yotsumura, and confronts Nagumo, annoyed by his attitude. Nagumo knocks him out with his bloodlust, and is chided by Fukumitsu. Fukumitsu assigns Nagumo to get rid of Yotsumura, mentioning that Shishiba was the one who failed to kill Yotsumura in the past.

Shishiba confronts Yotsumura and Geisha, and asks him if he works with X. Yotsumura explains his actions as redemption to his family. The fight splits into Osaragi vs Geisha, and Shishiba vs Yotsumura. Yotsumura has flashbacks during his fight with Shishiba, one to Shishiba confronting him, having been ordered to kill Yotsumura after Yotsumura failed a mission, and another to his recruitment of Shishiba during a mission. Shishiba and Yotsumura have several conversations about personal ideals throughout the fight. Shishiba thinks back to him learning about Yotsumura's family and the irony of an assassin having a family. It's revealed in another flashback of an assassination plot to kill the then-chief of the JAA, and Yotsumura's orders to find and kill the conspirators. Yotsumura receives instructions through killer lotto scratch card, and prepares to head out at night, when his wife Shino stops him, having seen the scratch card and learning of the exposure of the conspirators' plan. Shino threatens to kill Amane, revealing herself to be part of the conspiracy group. Yotsumura easily kills Shino, but was unable to prevent Amane from seeing him. The scene jumps to the future, where Shishiba confronts Yotsumura, asking him for an explanation on why the JAA claimed Yotsumura was the one who killed the then-chief of the JAA. Yotsumura realises he has been framed due to being part of the former leadership, but refuses to tell Shishiba his suspicions. Shishiba defeats Yotsumura and throws him and his weapon into the river, but Nagumo pulls him out downstream, wanting access to Yotsumura's connections and brutality to investigate the circumstances of Uzuki's death from inside the JAA, threatening to kill Amane if Yotsumura refuses, but giving him a peaceful life with Amane if he completes the mission.

Shishiba makes plans with Osaragi over the phone to reunite when Nagumo finds him. Nagumo fakes pretending to know of Shishiba's refusal to kill Yotsumura, but reassures Shishiba that Yotsumura was definitely a corpse. Nagumo lets Shishiba know that the Order has officially expelled Kanaguri and ordered him to be killed on sight, due to his concealment of evidence from the JAA and suspected collusion with X.

Back at the JCC, Sakamoto and Kanaguri fight. Kanaguri discovers his inability to access his JAA account. A short window into Kanaguri's childhood and interest in film is shown, and Sakamoto overwhelms Kanaguri. Before he is able to deliver the final blow, Akira steps in, and blocks Sakamoto, wanting to use Kanaguri to take her to X to avenge Rion. Shin, Natsuki, and Amane burst on the scene, and Shin directs Natsuki and Amane to attack Akira after reading the happenings from Sakamoto's thoughts. Sakamoto calls out to Akira to join her but she refuses. Akira and Kanaguri leave, and Akira leaves her JCC student ID card.

After the infiltration[]

The school closes for several days, to allow for treatment to injuries, repairs to facilities, and funerals for the deceased teachers. Many of the students are seen having changed their minds about X and his ideals. The Database asks Sakamoto his reasons for chasing X, and Sakamoto reveals his reasons, getting the Database to share information on X, now known as Uzuki to the others. The database demonstrates his preternatural memory, by redrawing Uzuki's student file. The Database tells them of his sighting of Uzuki several years before the past few days' events, and noted a distinct difference in the minute mannerisms a person is unable to change about themself. Natsuki theorises the existence of a split personality, reminding Shin of his encounter with Uzuki at the Okutabi Science Museum Underground Research Laboratory and his hearing of two voices. The Database corroborates this theory with his own guess as to why his impression of Uzuki starkly contrasted X's reported actions, guessing of another persona within Uzuki responsible for these actions. The group call up the JAA to search for leads on an orphanage from Uzuki's student file destroyed in an attack several years ago, but get no leads, prompting the Database to draw the newspaper the day of the attack. Sakamoto recognises Gaku and Uda from the attack on the JAA in the headlines, reported missing along with future characters Haruma, Kumanomi, Kozu, and Tenchu.

Back in the warehouse, Carolina Reaper bemoans the kidnapping of Club Jam by the JAA, and Kashima is unable to contact Kanaguri, blaming Sakamoto for the failure of the plan. Uzuki brings news to Gaku, of the return of Kumanomi and Haruma, and the group reaffirm their goals to destroy the order one by one.

Battles & Events[]

Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi vs Yotsumura and assassins[]

Nagumo and Shishiba are ambushed on the highway towards their destination by a group of assassins under orders from Yotsumura. Nagumo jumps into the first car and easily takes down the 4 assassins, Shishiba pushes the second into a wall using his own car, and Nagumo jumps on the third and spins it into the road divider. Yotsumura appears in a vehicle transport lorry ahead of the Order's rental car and destroys it with a three-sectioned-naganata. Nagumo and Shishiba jump on the lorry and attack Yotsumura, but he is able to handle the two. Osaragi jumps from a highway above and joins the fight. Yotsumura decides to retreat, not wanting to fight three active members of the Order.

Shin, Seba, Amane, and Byodo vs Club Jam[]

Shin, Natsuki, and Amane split off from Sakamoto and Akira at the control centre, and search for the Database. Club Jam's mass hypnosis causes a group of students to target the trio on their way to the Database, having heard Shin mention the Database. The mob pushes Shin and Amane off a nearby ledge, but they are rescued by the Database, who offers information about X in exchange for their assistance in protecting the JCC.

Natsuki vs Club Jam[]

Natsuki, not being caught by the mob, makes his way to the broadcasting room, where he confronts Club Jam and offers the Database's location in exchange for Mafuyu's location. Natsuki brings Club Jam to a data storage facility, using some of his weapons to immobilise Club Jam and destroy the floor below him, dropping him into an incinerator with molten metal below him. Club Jam manages to catch the edge of the hole, then manages to distract Natsuki and pull himself out of danger with a whip. Club Jam then hypnotises Natsuki and directs him to bring him to the Database.

Shin and Natsuki vs Club Jam[]

Shin, Amane, and the Database begin their escape but are ambushed by Natsuki and Club Jam. Amane points out Club Jam as the one who does hypnosis. Club Jam orders Natsuki to kill the Database. Natsuki takes off his electromagnetic wave-blocking hood mid-fight and reveals his plan to Shin telepathically, never having actually been hypnotised. Shin uses his telepathy to learn Mafuyu's location after Natsuki pretends to break his hypnosis and ask Club Jam for Mafuyu's location, making Club Jam think about it. Shin and Natsuki attack Club Jam after they get this information, revealing Natsuki's faked hypnosis.

Shin, Natsuki, Amane, and Byodo vs Club Jam[]

Club Jam retriggers Amane's hypnosis, making him see his allies as copies of Yotsumura. Club Jam hypnotises himself for a boost in speed and attacks the Database but Shin is able to protect the him. Amane attacks Shin, but he manages to dodge the attack, exposing himself to Club Jam in the process. Natsuki deactivates his invisibility, and shoots Club Jam with an electrocuting gun, momentarily stunning him. Shin uses his lessons in rotation from Satoda and pins Amane to the floor. Byodo manages to get Amane to recall good memories of his father and break the hypnosis. Right before Club Jam is about to clap and use more hypnosis, Amane cuts off Club Jam's hand with his four-section naganata, and Shin punches Club Jam into the wall during his sadism-induced ecstasy.

Shishiba and Osaragi vs Yotsumura and Geisha[]

Shishiba confronts Yotsumura and his Geisha assassin companion, and asks him if he works with X. Yotsumura explains his actions as redemption to his family. Yotsumura has flashbacks to Shishiba confronting him, having been ordered to kill Yotsumura after Yotsumura failed a mission. Yotsumura takes out his three-sectioned naganata, when Osaragi comes crashing through the wall, knocking him through several buildings. Yotsumura counterattacks from the rubble and attacks Shishiba. Shishiba jumps over Yotsumura's attack, and Osaragi uses the opening to attack Yotsumura. The Geisha uses her parasol to defend against Osaragai's buzzsaw, and kicks her through a building.

Osaragi vs Geisha[]

The Geisha chases Osaragi through the town, shooting at her using her umbrella. She jumps in the air and spins her opened umbrella, launching knives towards Osaragi. Osaragi lands on a rickshaw and directs the driver to run away from Shishiba and Yotsumura. The Geisha jumps on a bus and follows Osaragi, shooting at her from above the bus. Osaragi throws the buzzsaw through the bus, knocking the Geisha out of the bus, who lands on another rickshaw. The Geisha jumps off the rickshaw, towards Osaragi's rickshaw, and shoots her into a nearby temple with normal Geishas. The Geisha covers Osaragi with a decorated foldable barricade, and repeatedly stabs through the barricade with her umbrella. Osaragi grabs her umbrella during one stab, and whips her buzzsaw, catching the Geisha in her torso. The Geisha defends with her umbrella but it breaks in half, and starts to retreat. Osaragi pulls her back with a rope tied to the obi on the Geisha's kimono attached to the buzzsaw on the other end. Osaragi drapes a cloth over both of them, hiding them from the public, and slits her neck with the buzzsaw, crawling out after.

Shishiba vs Yotsumura[]

Yotsumura has a conversation with Shishiba and his companions attack Shishiba while Shishiba is distracted. Shishiba quickly decapitates two of them and stabs a third in the throat. Yotsumura attacks Shishiba, managing to cut his face, but Shishiba manages to tear Yotsumura's cheek open. Their conversations continue as the battle moves to the rooftops, and Yotsumura uses the sections of his three-sectioned naganata to pull Shishiba's hammer away and disarm him. Yotsumura knocks Shishiba through several floors of a building to the ground floor, but Shishiba pulls out more hammers and blocks. Shishiba knocks Yotsumura out of the building and into a Channel of Rebirth exhibition. The channel is dark, and Shishiba knocks his hammers against reach other to create sparks to see. They crash through the walls and land in the middle of a performance, where Yotsumura manages to steal a Noh costume and attack Shishiba. Shishiba manages to block but loses his ring and pinky finger on his right hand. Yotsumura throws the costume over Shishiba and stabs it, but Shishiba throws a hammer that he uses as a mirror, and cuts Yotsumura's throat. Shishiba throws Yotsumura, still bleeding, and his weapon into the river and wishes him luck.
